Mid-Level Architect/Engineer

Steele’s Facilities and Design business line places the utmost importance on the understanding and integration of these forces into every project we do.

Steele is currently seeking an Architect, Engineer, or Construction Manager (A/E) to join its Facilities and Design business line. Reporting to the Director, Facilities & Design, this position will be client facing and will perform design, design consulting, technical reviews, standards development, and facility assessments to meet emergent needs from a client’s portfolio. The A/E ensures that work product and expertise delivered to the client are informed by the candidate’s knowledge base and a clear understanding of client objectives.

This position calls for a design or facilities management professional with the ability to successfully integrate requirements/principles from the outside forces mentioned above. Our desired candidate will be strong in requisite design/construction knowledge as well as the ability to understand and advocate for best practice solutions, develop business cases that incorporate fundamental elements of exceptional facility performance into designs, and convey complex concepts to clients. Typical work activities may include design, design reviews, development of specifications and standards, construction stages reviews, and cost estimating. Typical types of facilities include workspaces, operational spaces, and campuses.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Provide technical expertise to the client in the areas of architecture, engineering or construction management/assessment;
  • Support clients in the development of design solutions that leverage changes in technology, organizational culture, architecture and engineering systems, and business practices;
  • Conduct reviews of conceptual, schematic, and full construction drawing sets, specifications, contractor submittals, and construction in progress;
  • Support the development of design standards through requirement validation, stakeholder outreach, and industry standard integration;
  • Produce programs of space requirements, design narratives, and budget-level cost estimates to support client bridging agreements;
  • Coordinate requirements for special projects and programs related to improvements across a client’s portfolio.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required;
  • 5-10+ years of demonstrated experience in either architecture, engineering, construction management or a combination thereof;
  • 5+ years of working on consulting projects and within collaborative teams;
  • Experience working with federal government clients preferred;
  • Understanding of workplace design principles, a plus;
  • Professional licensure, a plus;
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and must federal meet clearance eligibility requirements for access to sensitive information.
